TYPOGRAPHY & LAYOUT DESIGN

Studio Project | November 2021
Stemming from my personal passion for long-distance running, this publication highlights nuances of the physical sport that simultaneously benefit mental health.

The layout is confident and structured, and the pages breathe with ample, yet intentional, pockets of air. Together, these design techniques portray the ease of running, encouraging runners to embrace the rhythmic monotony of long-distance and allowing them to gain the full potential of their stride.

Methodology

Amendments to the wordmark’s terminals reflect the grace & swift nature of a runner’s stride.

Modification of typographic attributes, such as column length & width, leading, and alignment, allude to a consistent, predictable step pattern.

Content Breakdown

This publication mockup includes two articles: a feature on newly released running shoes and an interview with Olympic athlete, Deena Kastor, on overcoming mental battles while running.

Additional articles could suggest tips on running form, explain how to balance pace & distance, detail training plans and how to maintain motivation, provide runner-specific nutrition advice, review running brands & equipment, or coach runners on shifting their mindset & outlook.
