TYPOGRAPHIC POSTER DESIGN

Studio Project | April 2021
This assignment tasked me to showcase upcoming exhibitions for three American social movements, via systematic posters. Each movement was instigated by an accumulation of unjust events, and each event impacted an individual life. Over time, the redundancy of events desensitized the public, and tragedy became a norm. This poster series strives to promote remembrance of the individuals affected by each event.

To draw similarities between the posters, a cohesive visual language was established. The visual language, however, reserves latitude to communicate each movement’s unique features & intentions.

Experimentatal Typography

These typographic experiments strive to highlight precedents of each social movement (ie. injustice, abduction, disappearance) and the feelings they convey. Text and titles, such as “Bring Back Our Girls,” serve simply as placeholder content for this experimentation session.

METHODS

Some methods were used to create a cohesive visual system, while others helped maintain each movement’s unique qualities & respective communication goals.
